Katrina Daniel

As Chief Health Care Officer for Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), Katrina Daniel oversees the TRS-Care and TRS-ActiveCare health plans, which cover nearly 750,000 lives and spend nearly $4 billion on health care each year. Prior to joining TRS in 2015, Katrina was Senior Associate Commissioner for the Texas Department of Insurance Life, Health and Licensing Division, spending a decade regulating $82 billion life and health insurance market in Texas. She has extensive state government experience in health-related public relations, policy analysis and advising, project management, and research. Katrina earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Science in Health Care Transformation from The University of Texas McCombs Business School and Dell Medical School.
